Upgrade 16.0 to 16.1

Introduction

Goal

Upgrade a Bloomreach Experience Manager implementation project from version 16.0.x to 16.1.y.

Significant Changes

• We have reintroduced Stale Page Caching to improve delivery efficiency by serving cached pages to multiple visitors while only one waits for updates.
• We have improved the UI by outlining the selected sections in content blocks and compounds, making it easier for editors to see what they are working on..
• Experiment-related functionalities that were blocked when components were used by another user in a prior experiment have been resolved.
• We fixed a bug in the Pending Request panel that caused exceptions and prevented authors from logging into the CMS.
• The Pending Request panel no longer displays unactionable items related to deleted documents.
• We have added a confirmation dialog when removing a user to enhance security and prevent immediate deletion.
• The TaxonomyClassificationInterceptor now correctly handles inherited taxonomy fields without throwing exceptions.

Check Custom Project Code for Incompatibilities With Upgraded Libraries

Particular caution is warranted for the xmlbeans library used in processing custom REST API requests with an XML payload, PDFBox, and the POI library used to extract text from common office software file formats. These libraries have been updated to a more recent version that may introduce backward compatibility issues for custom project code to avoid published security vulnerabilities.
