Upgrade 16.2 to 16.3

Introduction

Goal

Upgrade a Bloomreach Experience Manager implementation project from version 16.2.x to 16.3.y.

Significant Changes

• Phase 2 of the new advanced link management feature is released, enhancing the visibility and management of references and supporting concurrent publication for direct references. This feature allows users to track content usage and understand the impact of changes.

• Improvements have been made to content request management, including a "See all" button in the Pending Requests panel linking to an enhanced Advanced Search page with a pending request indicator and filter. Bulk actions for requests are now available in Advanced Search.

• Automated translation link adaptation will now automatically switch links to the target locale when copying a document for translation6.

• brXM 16.3 now supports storing and serving WebP images. See more details in documentation.

• The org.apache.commons:commons-imaging dependency has been updated8.

• There is now an option to disable replication on application start-up.

Check Custom Project Code for Incompatibilities With Upgraded Libraries

Because of third party library upgrades that may introduce backward compatibility issues, there's a chance that project code doesn't build or run well any more. In that case, look into the specifics and adjust the project code to use the latest library correctly. Special attention to the removal of json-lib library, see the section below.
